OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF THE NATIONAL CONGRESS FOR THE PEOPLE'S DEFENSE (CNDP)

The Political Office of CNDP is literally shocked and scandalized by the slander and calumnies being spread
by the President of the Republic, Joseph KABILA KABANGE in the corridors of the ongoing General Assembly
of the United Nations and among his colleagues in New York, saying that the CNDP is recruiting children in its
ranks.
The CNDP reminds the international community and everyone that in the last months, it has handed over to
Caritas/Goma about 2,400 child-soldiers, remnants from the RCD and it has neither need nor intention of
recruiting children.  The President of the Republic, whose troupes are weakening more and more in the
current battles on the ground, is trying to distract the national and international opinion so as to hide his own
defeat. His fallacious declarations are meant to win for him the collaboration UN forces in DRC, and in doing
so he wants to block radically all possible debate on the security issue prevailing in the East of the country.
The CNDP is also aware that the President of the Republic and his collaborators are bribing local chiefs
asking them to provoke massive displacements of the population in the localities controlled by the CNDP so
as to accuse of exaction the troupes loyal to the movement. Nonetheless the population is abandoned to its
own devices and when they attempts to go back to their land, government forces, in coalition with FDLR
militias, threaten them.
The CNDP maintains that this war is being imposed on its troupes by Joseph KABILA and he must take upon
himself all its consequences. Moreover, the CNDP firmly condemns and denounces the government tactics
consisting in displacing massively villagers from their homes and taking by force their children in order to
present them to NGO with the pretext of protecting them against child recruitment in the ranks of the CNDP.
Obviously all means are for the Kabila regime when it comes to distract the International community's
attention over a political solution to the conflict in Eastern DRC. This regime does not hesitate to use
thousands of families and human shields, shields against the much awaited and desired peace.
Finally, the CNDP restates its willingness to recur to pacific methods of solving the crisis undermining the
East of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a conflict that is causing so much suffering to thousands of men
and women who in their own rights aspire to live in peace.

La différence
entre le possible
et l'impossible
réside dans la
détermination
Nous sommes les
restaurateurs des
brèches, le CNDP
rendra ce pays
habitable par tous!
Une nation est une âme,
un principe spirituel.
Deux choses qui, à vrai
dire, n’en font qu’une,
constituent cette âme, ce
principe spirituel.
L’une est dans le passé,
l’autre dans le présent.
L’une est la possession
en commun d’un riche
legs de souvenirs ;
l’autre est le
consentement actuel, le
désir de vivre ensemble,
la volonté de continuer à
faire valoir l’héritage qu’
on a reçu indivis.
La nation, est donc l’
aboutissant d’un long
passé d’efforts, de
sacrifices et de
dévouements.
